Villa Strozzi

Villa Strozzi is a Renaissance building with a two-story central residence topped by a turret and flanked by two extending wings that stretch across the property. The entire complex sits within a walled perimeter that dates to its original construction period.

The Florentine Strozzi family built the villa between 1630 and 1700, drawing on their landholding in the Mantua region that extended back to the 14th century. This construction period reflected the family's artistic and economic influence during the late Renaissance.

The interior spaces display elaborate stucco decorations featuring fruits, flowers, animals, cherubs, and martial emblems that reflect the artistic taste of the Renaissance period. These ornaments tell of the wealth and influence of the family that lived here.

The main building is currently managed by the Provincial Administration of Mantua, while secondary buildings house an agricultural educational institution. Access may vary depending on the current activities and educational programs taking place on the grounds.

An English-style garden surrounds the property, creating a contrast with the formal Italian Renaissance architecture. This garden design may have been added later and reflects changing European tastes over the centuries.
