Torrente Bisagno Viaduct

Torrente Bisagno Viaduct, Highway viaduct in Genoa, Italy.

The Torrente Bisagno Viaduct is a highway bridge in Genoa that crosses the Bisagno River. The structure spans about 594 meters with eight concrete sections, designed to handle traffic flows along the Ligurian coast.

Construction of this viaduct began in 1966 and was officially opened on December 18, 1967. This project was part of Italy's major postwar infrastructure expansion that modernized the country's transportation network.

The viaduct represents a period of substantial infrastructure development in Italy during the 1960s, when numerous large-scale transportation projects transformed the urban landscape.

The bridge carries the European Route E80 and A12 Motorway, making it a key connection for vehicles traveling through the region. You can view the structure from various vantage points around the city.

The bridge was designed by engineer Silvano Zorzi using prestressed concrete techniques that were innovative for the 1960s. Its longest span reaches about 116 meters, which was a notable engineering achievement for that era.
