Karatsu Kunchi, Festival in Karatsu, Japan
Karatsu Kunchi is a major autumn festival held annually in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture, Japan.
The festival has a history of more than 400 years and is designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan.
It features large floats called 'hikiyama', which are shaped like samurai helmets, sea bream, dragons, and other objects.
The festival takes place from November 2 to 4 every year.
One of the highlights of the festival is the sand-pulling event where the hikiyama floats are pulled across the sandy beach.
