Shigino Station, Railway station in Jōtō-ku, Osaka, Japan
Shigino Station is a transit hub in Jōtō-ku with elevated platforms on either side of the tracks and a separate underground level. It connects JR West lines with the Osaka Metro Imazatosuji Line, allowing passengers to reach different parts of the city.
The station opened in 1933 to serve the original Gakkentoshi Line and became an important stopping point in Osaka's expanding rail network. In 2019, it underwent major renovation with platform relocation and the addition of new tracks and facilities.
The station takes its name from the surrounding neighborhood and has long served as a daily hub for commuters moving across the city. Local residents rely on it to reach offices, schools, and shopping areas throughout Osaka.
The station operates from early morning until late evening and has multiple entrances for easy navigation. Signs display information in both Japanese and English to help passengers quickly find their desired platform and line.
The station displays a rare example of elevated and underground rail systems operating side by side on a compact site. This arrangement allows passengers to transfer between two completely different systems without leaving the station complex.
