Ukiha is a city in southeast Fukuoka Prefecture with a strong agricultural tradition and multiple railway stations connecting it to neighboring areas. The region features the Tsuzura Rice Terraces, which change appearance throughout the seasons, from flooded fields in early summer to red spider lilies blooming in autumn.
The city of Ukiha achieved city status in 2005, following a series of administrative mergers that began when the original village joined with Tsubago to form Miyuki town. This transformation reflected the region's gradual shift toward becoming a modern urban center.
The Chikugo-Yoshii Preservation District displays over 250 buildings with white-plastered walls that reflect the traditional dozo construction style from the 17th century.
