Maniwa

Maniwa is a city in the northern region of Okayama Prefecture that spreads across meadows, pasture lands, and forested mountains. The area contains natural waterfalls such as Kanba Waterfall and flows with river systems throughout its terrain.

The city formed in 2005 through the merger of nine towns and villages, including Katsuyama, Ochiai, and Yubara. This consolidation created a larger administrative entity in the region.

The Katsuyama district preserves traditional merchant houses with characteristic noren curtains, reflecting the commercial heritage of the region. Visitors can experience how trade routes and crafts shaped daily life in this area.
