Zōjō-ji, Buddhist temple in Tokyo, Japan
Zōjō-ji is a Jōdo-shū Buddhist temple in the Shiba neighborhood of Minato, Tokyo, Japan.
Founded in 1393, Zōjō-ji became the family temple of the Tokugawa clan and houses six of the fifteen Tokugawa shoguns.
The temple's main gate, Sangedatsumon, is a symbol of Buddhism's Three Liberations.
Zōjō-ji is easily accessible via public transportation, with Onarimon Station being the nearest subway station.
Zōjō-ji is known for its Unborn Children Garden, a collection of stone statues representing unborn children, including miscarried, stillborn, or aborted fetuses.
