Printing Museum

The Printing Museum sits on the ground floor of the Toppan Printing headquarters and displays roughly 70,000 objects related to printing technology and its development. The collection spans from ancient techniques to modern printing methods and shows how this industry has changed over time.

The museum houses one of the world's oldest printed documents, the Hyakumanto Dharani from ancient Japan. The collection documents how printing technology emerged in Japan and became one of the nation's leading industries.

The museum shows how printing technologies changed the way people in Japan share information and communicate with each other. You can see how important these techniques were across many generations.

The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday with opening times in the morning and closing times in the evening. It helps to visit in the afternoon when there are fewer visitors and you have more time to explore the displays.

In the Printing House section, visitors can work hands-on with traditional printing machinery and create their own prints. This is a rare chance to experience the craft of printing directly instead of just looking at displays.
