Kamikochi, Mountainous highland valley in Japan
Kamikōchi is a remote mountainous highland valley within the Hida Mountains range, in the western region of Nagano Prefecture, Japan.
The area was designated as one of Japan's National Cultural Assets in 1952 for its scenic beauty.
It is often considered part of the Chūbu-Sangaku National Park and it is a popular tourist destination known for its alpine climate.
Access to Kamikōchi is controlled and private cars are prohibited from entering the area.
Kamikōchi is home to the iconic Kappa Bridge, a wooden suspension bridge that offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
