Shiraoka

Shiraoka extends across 24.92 square kilometers of flat terrain on the Kanto Plain, reaching a maximum elevation of 16 meters above sea level.

The municipality transformed from separate villages of Shinozu and Oyama in 1889 to a merged town in 1965, finally receiving city status in October 2012.

The Shiraoka Hachiman-gu shrine represents the spiritual center of the community, connecting residents through traditional ceremonies and seasonal celebrations throughout the year.

The city maintains six elementary schools, four middle schools, and one high school, serving an estimated population of 52,431 residents across 21,997 households.

The Motoara River forms a natural boundary between Shiraoka and neighboring Hasuda, creating green spaces where seasonal lotus flowers and cherry trees grow.
