Tottori Airport, Commercial airport in Tottori, Japan
Tottori Airport is a commercial aerodrome serving the prefecture with a 2,000-meter runway and a two-story terminal building. Arrival facilities occupy the first floor while departure areas are located on the second floor.
The airport began operations in 1967 with an initial runway of 1,200 meters, succeeding the former Tottori City Airport which had closed in 1964. The runway was later extended to accommodate growing passenger demand.
The name references both the local sand dunes and Detective Conan, a manga character from nearby Hokuei. This connection to local identity appears throughout the terminal's signage and design elements.
The terminal is easy to navigate from the entrance with clear signage throughout the building. Buses run regularly to Tottori Station, making ground transportation straightforward for visitors without personal vehicles.
The facility houses an international meeting hall that opened in 1996, providing spaces for gatherings and events. An observation deck and outdoor playground cater to families, giving the airport a welcoming feel beyond typical transit functions.
