Kadamjay District, Administrative district in Batken Region, Kyrgyzstan
The Kadamjay District extends across 6,146 square kilometers of mountainous terrain in southwestern Kyrgyzstan, bordering Uzbekistan with numerous rivers flowing through the region.
The district gained prominence in 1942 with the establishment of the Khaidarkan Mercury Plant, which transformed the local economy through industrial mineral extraction operations.
The 201,457 residents of Kadamjay District live across 115 villages and maintain traditional practices while adapting to modern industrial developments in the region.
The district contains the second largest mercury-antimony deposits globally, with the Kadamjay Antimony Factory serving as the primary employment center for local residents.
The district features three main waterways - Shohimardonsoy, Isfayramsay, and Sokh rivers - supporting both industrial operations and agricultural activities throughout the region.
