Phnom Penh International Airport, International airport in Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Phnom Penh International Airport is an international airport in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, with two terminal buildings serving domestic and international flights. The runway extends three kilometers and connects the capital with destinations across Southeast Asia.
The facility originated in the nineteen forties during Japanese occupation as a military base. After the end of the civil war in the nineteen nineties, the site was expanded and modernized for civilian traffic.
The entrance areas feature Cambodian craftsmanship with carved wooden elements and stonework that recall the temples of Angkor. Travelers encounter here a mix of modern air travel and the visual language of the country, which continues in the columns and ceiling panels.
The terminal sits ten kilometers west of the city center and is reachable by express train, taxi, or ride-service apps. The arrival halls are clearly laid out and signage guides travelers to exits and transport options.
Passengers can submit their entry documents digitally up to seven days before departure through the E-Arrival system. This advance registration significantly reduces waiting time at border controls after landing.
