Preah Vihear Temple, Khmer temple in Cambodia
Preah Vihear Temple is a Khmer temple situated at the top of a 525-meter cliff in the Dângrêk Mountains, between Cambodia and Thailand.
Built during the reign of King Yasovarman I who ruled from 889 to probably 910, the temple was dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
As an outstanding masterpiece of Khmer architecture, mainly composed of a causeway and steps leading up the hill towards a series of towers, it is symbolic of the unique Khmer civilisation.
The temple is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is located in Preah Vihear Province of Cambodia.
Known as disputed territory between Cambodia and Thailand, this ancient site offers eye-catching views over Cambodia with its great scenery.
