Yongsan District

Yongsan is a district of Seoul that stretches between the more affluent south and central areas, spreading north of the Han River. The area houses major museums, significant transportation hubs, and a mix of modern and older residential neighborhoods.

The area served as an important trading port during the Joseon Dynasty for ships and merchants arriving on the Han River. Over time, it developed into a modern center with major infrastructure projects and museums.

The district is home to several religious sites, including the Seoul Central Mosque with its distinctive minarets, reflecting the multicultural makeup of residents. These places of worship show how people of different faiths coexist in daily life.

The area is easy to reach by subway and train, especially via Yongsan Station, one of the city's main transportation hubs. Visitors should allow enough time to navigate between the various museums, parks, and business districts.

The National Museum of Korea houses rare artworks including the famous Pensive Bodhisattva statue and ancient gold crowns from early kingdoms. These valuable pieces show the artistic tradition of a civilization stretching back over a thousand years.
