Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital, Former psychiatric hospital ruins in Gonjiam-eup, South Korea.
The three-story concrete building with broken windows stands among overgrown vegetation, displaying medical equipment and scattered furniture throughout its corridors.
The hospital operated from December 1992 until 1996, closing due to financial difficulties and non-compliance with water protection regulations.
The location inspired the 2018 South Korean horror film 'Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum', which generated 21 million dollars at the box office.
The structure was demolished in May 2018 following years of unauthorized entries by visitors and deteriorating conditions of the buildings.
CNN Travel recognized this location in 2012 as one of seven notable abandoned places worldwide, drawing attention from international ghost hunters.
