Aukštojas Hill

Aukštojas Hill is a natural summit in the Vilnius District Municipality that rises to 293.84 meters above sea level. The peak is covered with pine trees and can be reached through marked trails in the region.

The precise elevation was measured in 2004 using GPS technology by specialists from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. This precise measurement confirmed its status as Lithuania's highest natural point.

The name was chosen through a public contest and references a deity from Lithuanian mythology who was believed to be the world's creator. Visitors can sense this mythological connection when they learn about the place's origin story.

Visitors should hike during daylight hours for the best visibility and safety conditions. The marked trails guide you clearly through the area and make navigation straightforward.

The hill sits roughly 500 meters from Juozapinė Hill and surpasses it by just over one meter in elevation. This slim difference is what makes it the highest point in the country rather than its nearby rival.
