Antašava Manor, Classical manor house in Kupiškis district, Lithuania
Antašava Manor is a two-story classical manor house in Kupiškis district that features rectangular proportions and balanced facades typical of its architectural period. The main building sits within a formal landscape layout flanked by tree rows, alongside a stone barn and additional service structures.
The manor was built between 1812 and 1816 based on designs by Mykolas Angelas Šulcas, an architect trained under Laurynas Gucevičius. Its construction coincided with a period of architectural renewal on Lithuanian country estates following the Napoleonic Wars.
The name refers to the landscape tradition the estate represents, and the formal grounds show how prosperous families organized and used their properties. The surviving outbuildings reveal how daily life unfolded on a typical Lithuanian countryside estate during the 1800s.
The property is privately owned and can be viewed from outside, with the exterior and stonework visible from the access areas. Visitors should respect the designated viewing zones and avoid entering the grounds to maintain the private nature of the site.
The field stone barn was built using hand-cut stones from the immediate surroundings, representing a remarkable feat of local craftsmanship. This method was typical for Lithuanian estate structures of that era, but the stonework here shows particularly fine execution.
