Žmuidzinavičius Museum, Devil collections museum in Kaunas, Lithuania

The Žmuidzinavičius Museum is a collection of over 3000 devil sculptures, carvings, and paintings gathered from more than 70 countries worldwide. The works span many different artistic techniques and materials, from wooden figures to ceramic pieces and oils on canvas.

Lithuanian artist Antanas Žmuidzinavičius founded this museum in 1966 inside his own home, starting with 260 devil figures he had collected. The collection grew steadily over time as he continued to search for new pieces from different parts of the world.

The collection shows how different cultures around the world express ideas about evil and mischief through their own artistic traditions. Walking through the rooms, you notice how each region has its own visual language for these supernatural figures.

The museum is located in Kaunas and opens Tuesday through Sunday, with most days offering a few hours in the afternoon and evening. You should plan enough time to walk through all the rooms and view the works at a comfortable pace.

One memorable exhibition features a sculpture depicting two 20th-century dictators as devilish figures in a scene of death and destruction. The piece stands out for its direct commentary on historical evil rendered in visual form.
