Liubavas Manor, Manor estate in Riešė Eldership, Lithuania
Liubavas Manor is an estate in the north of Vilnius by the Žalesa River with eleven buildings, terraced ponds, and planted areas. The complex sits in a quiet location and now functions partly as a museum to preserve the life and history of the region.
The estate was founded in the early 15th century by the Goštautas noble family and was part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Over the centuries it saw different owners and changes before taking its present form.
The manor displays how Lithuanian nobility lived, with rooms showing furniture, clothing, and everyday objects from past times. Visitors can see how the family spent their time and what crafts and skills were practiced within the house.
Access comes via a stone-paved road from Bireliai that leads to the museum area. The best time to visit is in the warmer months when the grounds and gardens are most fully accessible.
A watermill on the grounds was built in 1902 and shows the technical innovations that were developed on estates like this one at that time. The mill demonstrates how such installations provided power and resources to run the household.
