Church of St. Michael the Archangel, Marijampolė, Minor basilica in Marijampolė, Lithuania.
The Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel stands as a Neo-Baroque stone church featuring dual towers, a Latin cross plan, and lancet windows that illuminate its interior with natural light.
Originally established in 1750 as a wooden church by Pranciška Butlerienė, the current stone structure was built after the original burned down in 1809 and was consecrated fifteen years later.
The basilica houses the tomb of Blessed Archbishop Jurgis Matulaitis and contains a miraculous painting of the Virgin Mary with Child, making it a significant pilgrimage destination.
The church offers regular Mass services on Sundays at 9:00 and 11:00 am, daily services Monday through Friday at 12:10 pm, and provides virtual tours for worldwide visitors.
This basilica serves as the burial site for participants of the 1831 uprising and Marian monks, combining religious significance with Lithuanian national historical memory.
