Church of the Discovery of the Holy Cross in Šeduva

The Church of the Discovery of the Holy Cross is a brick structure with a cruciform plan, five altars, and a bell tower built in the 18th century. The interior features a central nave that leads to a raised altar space and a semicircular apse at the far end.

In 1643, Bishop Jurgis Tiškevičius of Vilnius funded the construction of this brick church, replacing an earlier wooden structure from the early 16th century. This transition from a wood building to a stone construction marked a significant investment in the local religious community.

The church displays a blend of Renaissance and Baroque styles through its Latin cross layout and elevated altar space. Visitors can observe the local religious traditions reflected in how the interior is organized and decorated.

The bell tower is clearly visible from outside and helps visitors locate the church in Šeduva. The grounds are accessible and allow for easy exploration of the building and its surroundings.

The interior preserves six altars crafted from multicolored artificial marble with intricate detail work. These artistically made altars reveal the religious craftsmanship typical of the Baroque period.
