Church of St. Michael the Archangel and St. John the Baptist, Jieznas

The Church of St. Michael the Archangel and St. John the Baptist is a Baroque building with two towers of different heights and a rectangular floor plan, with a symmetrical entrance that leads to an underground crypt. The interior features a central altar with religious paintings and distinct areas arranged for prayer and worship.

The building was constructed in the second half of the 17th century under the patronage of Steponas Kristupas Pacas, making it a key landmark in the area's religious history. Significant expansion and artistic decoration with frescoes took place between 1768 and 1772.

The church honors two patron saints whose images appear throughout its interior spaces, reflecting how the community has long connected these figures to protection and spiritual guidance. Visitors notice how the layout itself seems designed to guide people toward prayer and reflection.
