Skinderiškis Dendrological Park, Arboretum in Kėdainiai District Municipality, Lithuania.
Skinderiškis is an arboretum situated within a loop of the Šušvė River, containing thousands of trees and shrubs representing more than 1300 species from around the world. The grounds include walking paths that wind through the collection and connect various planted areas.
A local forester named Kęstutis Kaltenis established this park in 1971, building it up from the beginning as a personal project. Later, Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus gave the project official recognition in 1993.
The grounds feature wooden sculptures and natural boulders scattered throughout, creating distinct zones that represent different geographical regions. These artistic touches give visitors a sense of how plant communities from distant places come together in one location.
The park is open year-round and managed by the Lithuanian State Forest Service, making it accessible to visitors at any time. Wear comfortable walking shoes as the trails pass through wooded terrain that changes with the seasons.
The collection includes roughly 60 different maple species, an unusual concentration of this tree type in one location. The park also cultivates rare Lithuanian plants such as ivy, dwarf birch, yew, and sessile oak that are difficult to find elsewhere in the region.
