Boja Manor

Boja Manor is a manor house built in the Gothic Revival style in Kazdanga Parish, featuring ornate exterior details and large windows characteristic of that architectural period. The estate sits within grounds that include two ponds and extensive European larch plantations.

Baron von Behr commissioned the estate in 1860 as a residential property in the Courland region. This founding date marks when the site began functioning as a manor with economic importance to the area.

The Forest Museum inside shows how people have used forests in this region and what role trees play in daily life. You can see exhibits that reflect the relationship between locals and their natural surroundings.

The grounds are easy to walk through, allowing visitors to explore the ponds and tree plantations at a leisurely pace. A small cafe on site offers refreshments if you want to rest and enjoy the surroundings.

The Forest Museum was added to the manor as a later development rather than being part of the original building's purpose. This transformation shows how old estates take on new roles and serve their communities in different ways.
