Ogres Zilie kalni

Ogres Zilie kalni is a nature park covering 312 hectares in Tīnūži Parish, where coniferous forests grow on elevated esker formations. The grounds feature marked routes for hiking, cycling, and horseback riding through varying terrain and forest types.

The park sits on the Lielie Kangari ridge system, where an ancient refuge castle mound once provided strategic advantages from its elevated position. This location held importance in the region's past settlement patterns.

The park incorporates six protected plant species, including forest pasqueflower and Hungarian sainfoin, representing Latvia's natural botanical heritage.

A cross-country ski track stretches 12 kilometers between Ikšķile and Ogre towns, running from October through mid-March. Certain sections feature evening lighting, making it possible to explore after dark during winter months.

An observation tower reaching 30 meters tall reveals Riga's television tower in the distance on clear days, standing at about 90 meters above sea level. Few visitors expect such a distant city view from this remote forest location.
