Ragakāpa Nature Park, Nature park in Buļļuciems, Latvia.
Ragakāpa Nature Park is a protected area near the Baltic Sea coast in Jūrmala that covers about 150 hectares. The land is shaped by pine forests and dune formations typical of this coastal region.
The protected area was established in 1962 as an important step to preserve Latvia's coastal landscape. Since then it has developed into a model for nature conservation in the Baltic region.
The park displays information about how Latvia's coastal landscape formed and which plants grow here naturally. Walking through it shows visitors how nature and people share this area together.
Two marked routes with wooden boardwalks and stairs make exploring the park straightforward and safe. The paths are designed for different levels of ability and let visitors cross the dunes and forests without difficulty.
The area contains seven different EU biotopes and provides habitat for 21 protected species, including the sand pink flower. Visitors may spot these plants and animals while walking, as they are particularly found in this coastal habitat.
