Great Amber Concert Hall, Concert hall in Liepāja, Latvia.
The Great Amber Concert Hall is a modern music venue with a distinctive cone-shaped form and a tilted glass exterior that spans eight floors. Inside are two performance spaces: a larger hall with around 970 seats and a smaller chamber room with approximately 180 seats.
The idea for such a concert hall emerged in 1896 when the city council first recognized the need, but the building wasn't completed until 2015. This long span reflects how Liepāja developed from the 19th century to modern times.
The hall is named after amber, a material harvested in the region for centuries and deeply connected to local identity. Visitors can see this connection in the building's golden color and how it reflects the city's heritage.
Visitors will find a restaurant and cafe inside the building where they can eat and drink before or after performances. The modern architecture makes it easy to navigate, and facilities are designed to serve different visitor needs.
The hall's acoustics were specially designed by a renowned acoustician to deliver excellent sound quality across different musical genres. This technical care is invisible, but visitors feel it immediately when they hear performances.
