Sidi-Boughaba, Protected wetland near Kenitra, Morocco.
The Sidi-Boughaba reserve spans 650 hectares, containing a freshwater lake and forest areas that support numerous plant and animal species.
The Moroccan government established Sidi-Boughaba as a protected area in 1980, designating it as a Ramsar site for international wetland conservation.
The environmental education center within the reserve hosts 5,000 students and 500 teachers annually for nature learning programs and guided visits.
Located 10 kilometers south of Kenitra, the reserve features walking paths around a lake that measures between 5 and 6 kilometers in length.
The lake represents the last freshwater body on Morocco's northwest coast, fed by an underground aquifer and supporting over 205 bird species.
