Pommer mansion

The Pommer mansion occupies the center of Țaul village and displays the generous proportions of an early twentieth-century country estate with multiple functional buildings and grounds. A water tower and two separate guest houses comprise the complex, which was originally designed for extensive farming operations and entertainment.

A Russian landowner commissioned this estate in 1901 as a prestigious country residence for his family. During the Soviet period it was converted to a sanatorium and served medical and therapeutic purposes.

The estate served as a social hub for a wealthy landowning family, and its layout shows how residents and visitors moved through the spaces. The outbuildings and grounds reflect the daily rhythms and entertaining practices of that era.

The estate is currently only accessible from the outside, as the buildings are not open to visitors and require extensive restoration work. You can still explore the grounds and photograph the historic structures from the exterior.

The estate contains one of Moldova's largest parks, planted with over one hundred varieties of trees and plants gathered from around the world by the original owner. This botanical collection makes the grounds a rare green oasis in the region.
