Țaul Park, park in Țaul village, monument of landscape architecture in Moldova
Țaul Park is a landscape architecture monument in Dondușeni District featuring more than 46 hectares (114 acres) with over 150 species of trees, bushes, and climbing plants. The ground has a saddle-shaped topography with three hills that create varied terrain throughout the grounds.
French banker Andrei Iacob Pommer founded the park in 1900, hiring engineer Ipolit Vladislavski-Padalka to design the layout and select the plant species. This early development established the site as an important landscape project for the region.
The park centers around the Pommer Manor, which appears on a commemorative silver coin issued by Moldova in 2015, reflecting its importance to the region. The manor's presence shapes how visitors experience and remember the entire place.
The park is located in the southern part of Țaul village in Dondușeni District and remains open to visitors year-round. The hilly terrain with multiple elevations means comfortable walking shoes are recommended for exploring the grounds.
The park holds more than 100 exotic plant species, making it the largest arboretum park in Moldova. This collection of rare plants from distant regions gives the site botanical significance beyond its landscape design.
