Alley of Classics, Bălţi, monument in Moldova
The Alley of Classics is a park and monument in Bălți featuring three busts of notable figures from literature and culture. The sculptures stand roughly 8 feet (2.5 meters) tall on sturdy bases arranged along a simple, maintained path.
The Alley was designed by Gheorghe Gheorghiu and opened to the public on July 17, 2010. It was created to preserve the legacy of Moldavian and Romanian cultural figures for future generations.
The Alley of Classics honors Romanian and Moldavian writers and poets whose works shaped the region. The place connects Moldova's cultural identity with its shared history through the busts displayed along the path.
The site is easily accessible from different parts of the city and located in a central area where you can walk around the nearby streets. Visit during daytime in good weather, particularly in the afternoons and on weekends when the paths are most pleasant.
Ion Creangă was a storyteller whose tales are read by children and adults alike, while Grigore Vieru is viewed by many Moldavians as a symbol of their national pride. These distinct figures show how the Alley brings together different cultural and national connections.
