Luboten

Luboten is a mountain summit in the Sharr range that rises to about 2,500 meters and marks the border between North Macedonia and Kosovo. The peak sits within a larger mountain massif with multiple routes connecting it to the main hiking network.

Over centuries the mountain served as a key reference point for travelers and merchants moving through the region between major settlements. Its position along established routes made it a recognized landmark in the local geography and trade networks.

The communities living in nearby villages maintain traditional mountain ways of life that reflect generations of living in this highland region. The mountain hut serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors share stories and meals.

Several hiking trails of varying difficulty leave from the Mountain Hut Ljuboten and lead toward the summit for visitors with different fitness levels. The mountain is most accessible during warmer months when higher elevations are free of snow.

The peak features distinctive rock formations named Shija Ljubotenska, Kozja Karpa, and Shiljast Kamen that give the mountain a rugged appearance. These natural stone shapes become especially visible on clear days and create memorable views from various approach routes.
