Robevi family house, Heritage museum in Ohrid, North Macedonia

The Robevi family house is a three-level building with traditional Ottoman architecture in Ohrid, designed with two separate residential areas for different family members. Its interior spaces are filled with valuable archaeological collections that document ancient cultures of the region.

The building was completed in 1827 but was severely damaged during an attack in 1861. A major reconstruction between 1863 and 1864 restored it to the form we see today.

The house displays archaeological finds from the region, giving visitors a sense of the ancient past that shaped this area. The way these objects are arranged shows how different cultures lived and what mattered to them in earlier times.

The house is easily reached on foot from Ohrid's city center and is located in a historic neighborhood with other attractions nearby. It is best to visit in the morning to avoid crowds and explore the collections at a relaxed pace.

Woodcarvers worked on each side of the house separately and deliberately created different carved styles for each half. This intentional separation makes the house a rare example of divided craftsmanship executed under strict artistic control.
