Dordrecht railway station, Railway station in Dordrecht, Netherlands
The Renaissance Revival railway station extends 108 meters along the platform, featuring a wide hall illuminated by 18 wall openings and steel-supported platform roofing.
Commissioned by the Hollandsche IJzeren Spoorweg Maatschappij, the station opened in 1872 following the construction of major bridges connecting Rotterdam and Antwerp.
The station building holds Rijksmonument status and represents one of two remaining Waterstaatstations of its class in the Netherlands, alongside Zwolle station.
The facility provides multiple train services to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and The Hague, with interconnected bus networks serving surrounding neighborhoods and regional destinations.
The platform roofing, added in 1900 by Van Dorsser & Terhorst, combines riveted and rolled iron supports with traditional wooden saddleback construction.
