De Banjaard, human settlement
De Banjaard is a holiday village on the island of Noord-Beveland in the Netherlands with vacation homes and hotel accommodations. The settlement contains around 600 houses arranged in groups around a central area with shops, restaurants, and an indoor swimming pool for guest use.
The original park was built around 1960 as a small bungalow settlement for holiday visitors. During the 1990s, a large modern section called Roompot Residence De Banjaard was added, expanding the facility significantly and introducing contemporary amenities.
The place takes its name from a sandbank in the area, reflecting how the settlement and landscape are deeply connected. The village shows how people have learned over time to live comfortably near the sea and make use of the flat, open terrain for everyday life.
The settlement is located northwest of Kamperland and is easily accessible by car or bicycle via local roads and bike paths. Parking areas are available near the park and the beach is just a short walk away.
The indoor pool at the park is popular with guests of all ages, and during school holidays extra activity programs are organized for children including crafts, games, and live shows with mascots. These programs help children make new friends while parents can relax knowing their kids are entertained.
