Wissel, Rural hamlet in Epe, Netherlands
Wissel is a small rural hamlet in the municipality of Epe, Gelderland province, set among green fields and forests. The settlement consists of scattered houses with around 200 residents spread across the agricultural landscape.
The hamlet developed as an agricultural settlement and long remained classified as a buurtschap. In 2006, proposals emerged to raise its official status to that of a recognized village.
The SV Wissel football club anchors community life in this rural settlement. Residents practice traditional Dutch village customs that shape daily interactions and local gatherings.
Visitors can find several camping sites near the settlement, with additional services and amenities available in the nearby town of Epe. The area is accessible by car and connects to local cycling routes common throughout the region.
The locality was once home to the Dierenpark Wissel, a small zoo that drew visitors from the wider region before its closure. This attraction gave the settlement a presence beyond its small population.
