Speelstad Oranje, parc d'attractions néerlandais
Speelstad Oranje was an indoor play facility housed in a former potato starch factory building in the village of Oranje in Midden-Drenthe. The venue contained multiple rides and play attractions, including a roller coaster called Tornado, a swinging pirate ship, and various other entertainment features designed for children.
The original building was constructed in 1913 as a potato starch factory and served as the heart of the community for decades. An entrepreneur purchased the site in the 1980s and opened the play facility in 1992, which quickly grew into a popular family destination with hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.
The facility was easily accessible by car with ample parking available for visitors. It was suited for school trips and family visits, with most attractions designed for children between three and fourteen years old.
The site also housed Pipodorp, a holiday park with approximately 250 colorfully painted bungalows decorated by an artist with designs inspired by the Pipo de Clown television series. After the park closed in 2015, the holiday grounds were temporarily used to house asylum seekers.
