Het Klaverblad

Het Klaverblad is a wooden sawmill in Zaanse Schans with rotating sails that process timber using traditional Dutch milling techniques. The structure harnesses wind power to drive historical cutting mechanisms and demonstrates how such operations once functioned in daily industrial practice.

The mill was built at a former warehouse site and began operations in 2005 as part of a collection of historical windmills. This establishment preserved traditional milling crafts and added to the open-air museum's educational role.

The sawmill represents how wood processing was once central to Dutch craftsmanship and provided livelihood for local workers. Visitors can see how these skills remained important in the community and shaped the character of this working district.

The site sits within Zaanse Schans and connects to the rest of the museum through well-marked pathways. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and check operating times, as the sawmill runs only during scheduled hours.

The foundation managing Het Klaverblad maintains the mill's original wood-cutting mechanisms, allowing guests to witness authentic sawmill operations in motion.
