Waerdse Tempel, Music venue in Heerhugowaard, Netherlands.
The Waerdse Tempel was a two-hall venue with a large space holding approximately 2500 people and a smaller room for about 350 guests. The complex also featured an on-site restaurant accommodating roughly 150 diners and sat near a lake with an artificial beach between Alkmaar and Heerhugowaard.
The site underwent seven years of development and construction before opening on January 20, 2006 with a BZN concert. After operating for six years, the venue closed in 2012 and went through several transformations before final closure in 2019.
The name references the site's earlier religious purpose before its transformation into an entertainment space. Over the years, it became a meeting point where locals and visitors gathered to experience live performances together.
The location was easy to reach, positioned between two larger towns with water nearby for recreation. Visitors could explore the grounds with its leisure facilities, including the lake and beach area, making it simple to spend extra time at the site before or after an event.
The venue attracted major international acts including Jethro Tull, Toto, and Motörhead to perform on its stages. After closing, the building was reimagined as a nightclub and event space under different names before ultimately ceasing operations.
