Huis te Zaanen

Huis te Zaanen is a manor house in Haarlem located within the Zaanenbos park, displaying traditional Dutch architectural features. The ground floor functions as an event space for meetings and gatherings, while the upper level contains two residential apartments.

The original castle at this location was destroyed in 1296 after a member of the Zaanen family was implicated in a plot against the Count of Holland. During the 1572 siege of Haarlem, Spanish troops occupied the later building and subsequently destroyed it.

The building takes its name from the noble family that once controlled the property and shows how ancestral estates adapted to changing times. Today it functions as a meeting place for the community, blending historical rooms with contemporary gatherings.

The house is easily accessible and situated directly within the park, allowing visitors to explore the surroundings at their own pace. Opening times and visiting conditions may vary depending on scheduled events, so checking ahead is recommended.
