Sint-Lambertuskerk, Gothic Revival church in Veghel, Netherlands.
Sint-Lambertuskerk is a Gothic Revival church in the center of Veghel, built on a cross-shaped floor plan with a tall west tower that rises above the roofline. Inside, several chapels are arranged around the choir area, giving the space a layered depth.
The church was designed between 1856 and 1862 and replaced an older religious building that had stood on the same site for centuries. The new structure changed the way the town center looked and gave it a new focal point.
The church is dedicated to Saint Lambert and displays furniture pieces from the 19th century created by skilled craftspeople. These furnishings shape the interior appearance and tell of the craftsmanship valued during this period.
The church is still used for Catholic services, so visiting outside of service times gives a better chance to explore the interior without interruption. A cemetery next to the building is also open to visitors and worth a short walk through.
Sint-Lambertuskerk was one of the first major church projects completed by its architect, who went on to design other well-known religious buildings across the Netherlands. The building is listed as a Rijksmonument, which means it has formal protection under Dutch heritage law.
