St. Peter's Church, Utrecht, Romanesque church in Utrecht, Netherlands.

St. Peter's Church is a Romanesque building with massive red sandstone pillars that rise through the central nave. The interior shows strong proportions with thick supporting columns that carry the weight of the roof.

Bishop Bernold began building this church in 1039, and it was officially inaugurated on May 1, 1048. The structure dates from an important period in Utrecht's religious development.

The church is part of the Kerkenkruis, a historic arrangement of four churches in Utrecht's center. You can experience this spatial connection while walking through the city.

The building is located at Pieterskerkhof 3 and is open during regular hours. Inside, visitors can explore an exhibition about the building's architectural development.

Beneath the church lies a medieval crypt containing the stone coffin of Bishop Bernold. This underground chamber preserves original construction elements from the 11th century.
