Kabouterland

Kabouterland is a playground and zoo in Exloo combining indoor and outdoor play areas with animal exhibits featuring wallabies, coatis, meerkats, and black-eared monkeys spread across the grounds. The park was created in Drenthe, a region with deep roots in Dutch folklore traditions featuring gnome characters. The location was chosen to bring these regional stories to life through an experience designed for children.

Children explore underground passages decorated with scenes from Dutch folklore about gnomes and trolls that belong to the region's storytelling heritage. This theming connects playtime to traditional tales that have long been part of local culture.

The facility operates daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and tickets can be purchased online through the official website. Comfortable walking shoes are advisable since visiting the site involves navigating multiple pathways and areas on foot.

A rabbit hole style tunnel guides visitors through special gnome display sections where the theming is experienced from an unusual vantage point. The troll cave area features a covered walkway where exotic animals are displayed within a thematic setting rarely executed in this way.
