Hulshorst railway station, Railway station in Hulshorst, Netherlands
Hulshorst railway station is a single-story building designed by architect Nicolaas Kamperdijk in 1865 and positioned along the Utrecht-Zwolle railway line in Gelderland province. The structure retains its original architectural character and form to the present day.
The station opened in 1863 after local estate owners provided land for its construction and supported its development. It later became part of the expanding railway network in the eastern Netherlands.
Dutch poet Gerrit Achterberg honored the railway station by having verses displayed on its walls that remain visible today. These words show how deeply the place touched creative minds in the region.
The station no longer operates for regular passenger service and can be visited as a historical landmark. Visitors can view the building from the outside and read the verses carved on its walls.
An old agreement once required four daily train stops at this station, even though regular passenger service ended decades ago. This contractual commitment reveals how much the railway mattered to the early local community.
