Doornroosje

Doornroosje is a music venue with multiple levels and two performance halls that host different types of musical events throughout the year. The spaces are designed flexibly to accommodate various artists and audience sizes.

The venue originally operated in an old school building before relocating in 2014 to a newly built facility next to the central station. This move provided better facilities and a more central location for visitors.

This venue serves as a meeting place for musicians and fans across the region, hosting both established and emerging artists from many genres. It has become a key center for the music scene in eastern Netherlands and draws visitors from surrounding areas.

The venue features advanced sound insulation with specialized springs in its construction to minimize noise affecting surrounding buildings. Its location next to the central station makes it easily accessible by public transport.

Engineers developed a mechanical platform that lifts and rotates trucks within the limited space around the station to handle equipment loading. This system demonstrates creative solutions for the challenges of being located in the city center.
