Wilhelmina Bridge, Steel and concrete bridge in Deventer, Netherlands.
Wilhelmina Bridge is a steel structure with concrete supports spanning the IJssel River and connecting both sides of Deventer. The bridge accommodates various forms of traffic across the water.
The bridge was originally constructed in 1939 and suffered damage during the Second World War. It was rebuilt in 1948 after the conflict and given its present name.
The bridge frames views of Deventer's historic skyline, especially the striking tower of Lebuinus Church visible from its span. Photographers and passersby often pause here to capture the river and surrounding buildings.
The bridge is easily accessed and can be used by pedestrians and cyclists thanks to wide pathways on both sides. During wet or icy conditions, surfaces can become slippery, so caution is advisable.
The structure was used as a stand-in for the Arnhem crossing in the 1976 film A Bridge Too Far due to its resemblance. This film connection makes it a curiosity for movie enthusiasts.
