J.L. Hooglandgemaal

The J.L. Hooglandgemaal is a pumping station in Stavoren that moves water from the Frisian storage basin into the IJsselmeer using horizontal screw pumps. The facility underwent major renovations in 2011 and is housed in a distinctive building from the mid-20th century.

The station was built in 1966 and replaced an earlier pump house that now operates only during extreme flooding events. This upgrade was part of the broader modernization of regional water management in Friesland.
