New Babylon, Office building at Den Haag Centraal station, Netherlands.
New Babylon is an office building at Den Haag Centraal station with two connected towers standing at 102 and 142 meters tall. The complex combines office spaces, shops, residential apartments, and a hotel within one integrated structure.
The structure was built between 2007 and 2013 as part of the Den Haag Nieuw Centraal project by Meyer en Van Schooten Architecten. It replaced an earlier facility from 1978 that previously occupied the site.
The name comes from an art project by the Dutch artist Constant, who imagined a future where machines would free people to pursue creative activities.
The ground and second floors contain shops and restaurants, while upper levels house office spaces and conference facilities. Direct access to the station makes navigation straightforward and convenient.
One of the towers features the tallest flagpole in the Netherlands at 16 meters high. The complex earned a Cobouw Award in 2011 for excellence in residential design.
