De Zwaluw

The Zwaluw stands as a three-story smock mill with a thatched cover and single-story brick base, featuring four common sails that span 20 meters.

Built in 1837 by millwrights L Reinds and B Sluter using components from a demolished windmill in Schipborg, replacing an earlier post mill at this location.

The mill received Rijksmonument status in 2003, marking its recognition as a structure of national importance in Dutch architectural and industrial heritage.

Visitors can explore the operational mill on Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with additional Wednesday hours from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM during summer.

The inner sail stock remains the oldest surviving example manufactured by Christiaan Bremer, dating back to the mill's 1951 restoration period.
